John is the 'Michener' of gemology and this work is his Centennial..the compilation of the Bibliography is the fruition of a lifetime's work: researched from scratch!...To say that the Sinkankas Bibliography is the best gemological bibliography is to condemn it with faint praise. The book is astounding! (Geoliterary Bulletin)
..this will remain for many years he place to find out anything one would want to know about who wrote what about gems, who was he in the first place, and what did John think about what he wrote. This may well be the publishing event of the decade (if not the century) in the gemstone field...Sinkankas, a stickler for accuracy and completeness, thoroughly researched the available literature to provide background for his own writings...The resulting annotated bibliography is unique in its field, and its usefulness and importance cannot be overstated. The work has been published in two massive but handsome volumes. (Rocks And Minerals)

An exciting bibliography on gemology...The commentary reveals the author's knowledge about and enthusiasm for the material. Highly recommended for collections with even a vague need for a bibliography on gemology. (Choice)
